Top Ten Tuesday: Long Books That I Have Read (which is surprising) and Long Books I Still Haven’t Read (consider me spooked)

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme, hosted by Jana @ That Artsy Reader Girl.

Today’s prompt is “Longest Books I’ve Ever Read”.

Now, I don’t know about you guys, but I haven’t really read that many “long” books. The average book I read is about 300 – 450 pages? Maybe a little more? But there are definitely longer books on my shelf. I just stay away from them unless I have their sequels (if they have any) because, that’s a lot of commitment only to be left hanging on a literal cliff. Because I’m a coward and am scared of anything that is bigger than me. Which is everything because I am smol.

And SOOOO! I’ve decided that to fit the prompt I am going to split this post 5/5. 5 of the longest books I have read, and 5 of the longest books on my physical TBR that I haven’t read.

I swear every TTT post that I can’t think of ten books for, turns into a TBR shame post…. and considering that this happens a lot, and the prompts are usually quite different from each other……. that’s a lot of shame.

All covers link back to Goodreads, so you guys can check them out too! Note: All the books that are sequels will have links going to the first book in the series to avoid spoilers.

Traitor to the Throne (Rebel of the Sands #2)- 570 pages

City of Heavenly Fire (The Mortal Instruments #6) – 640 pages

Empire of Storms ( Throne of Glass #5)- 689 pages

A Court of Wings and Ruin (A Court of Thorns and Roses #3) – 699 pages

Winter (The Lunar Chronicles #4) – 827 pages

It just occurred to me while I was making this list that all the longest books I’ve ever read are sequels…. I’m so scared of the long books that I have only read them if they were a sequel to a smaller book…. (Although this is going to change considering I’ve just started reading Strange the Dreamer by Laini Taylor! And it’s pretty big and the beginning of a duology! AAAWWWWW YEAH BREAK THOSE BAD HABITS!!!!)

What are the longest books you’ve ever read??? Which books are still on your shelf, taking up a whole load of space??? Are you afraid of larger books too??

Ohh Cassandra Clare definitely writes such HUGE hunks of books there.😂But they’re worth it!! I loved every second of Lady Midnight omg and ACOL was also a glorious brick of perfection (how is it 666 pages?! I’m sure Schwab is thrilled😂). I admit though, I tend to run screaming from long books as much as possible. I am SMOL TOO. If I stood on Winter, I’d be like normal height. (Also why are sequels so long?? It’s like book 1 is normal and then by book 4, WELCOME TO 700 PAGES, SIT DOWN.)

    1. That’s one of the good things about reading a reaaaaally long book. If it’s a good book then you don’t mind that it’s a long book, but if it’s a book you don’t really like, then it can be a really daunting read.
      Happy Reading!!!! 😀

  2. I love that cover of Traitor to the Throne! I don’t know that series I guess. And the Name of the Wind is huge- I’ve never read it although I almost started it once…

    1. The Rebel of the Sands books all have beautiful covers!!
The Name of the Wind is literally terrifying… a beast of a book if I ever saw one. Though I would like to read it one day, just have to find the time!!
      Happy Reading!! 😀

  3. Lady Midnight was a little too dark for me, I think. :/ It was good… just… dark. But I am listening to Strange the Dreamer now and I LOVE IT!!! So that’s a perfect one to break the bad habit of only long sequels (which I think I’m usually guilty of, too!). Here’s my TTT.

    1. I’m ok with dark books, but I need to be in the right mindset for them other wise I just spiral into a horrid state of being. Thanks for the heads up! I’ll plan for that when I go into it 😀

Strange the Dreamer is literally already perfect and I am not even half way through. My review for this book is going to be a big squealing mess! XD

    1. I keep meaning to read it too! I keep making excuses as to why I haven’t read it yet, at the moment, the best one I have is “I’m just waiting till the final book comes out in December, then I can binge read!”

I’m determined to at the very least start Lady Midnight before the end of the year! (Watch this grand plan fail as I drown in my TBR XD )

    1. Winter was amazing!! Even though it was pretty long in hindsight, I remember finishing it and thinking that it wasn’t long enough!! I loved the Lunar Chronicles so much!! I never wanted it to end!!

I’ve heard so many good things about V.E. Schwab’s books, and so I’m excited to read some… but they’re also kinda hyped books (so I’m a little scared that I won’t like it).
First I need to clear the TBR out a bit! XD
      Happy Reading!! 😀

    1. I don’t think I can imagine living and not reading?? Like, how is that even possible?? Seems pretty alien to me.
Ah! I am loving Strange the Dreamer so far! It’s such a beautifully written book, I can’t believe I haven’t picked up Laini Taylor’s work before! It is amazing!!
Happy Reading to you too!!! 😀

    1. I’ve read some long books that I considered friggin’ great! (and too short ; _ 😉 For example, Winter by Marissa Meyer, I never wanted that book to end!!

Re-reading itself is hard to schedule I find. Especially if you’re trying to keep up with new releases and older books and such. Basically re-reading is hard when you have a TBR XD

  4. Some weeks are so hard for me i completely understand. It can literally take me hours to work out how to do the list when I am struggling haha. This week though I found it easy since I listen to a lot of long audiobooks in the car.

    1. Right?? At first glance the prompts seem easy and then you look at the books you’ve read and there’s like 2 that fit the prompt. ; _ ;

Ooo! I’ve been meaning to try audiobooks. I’ve heard a lot of good things about them! I might see about getting The Name of the Wind on Audio. That book literally scares me! XD
