Books I Wish I Read The Second I Got My Dragon Talons On Them

When it comes to unread books, readers have two fears.

1) If you have a pile (or mountain… I KNOW YOU HAVE ONE) of too many unread books, it will come alive and eat you. Or bury you. Or whatever punishment it sees fit. They can get pretty creative.

2) One of those 1,000,000,000 unread books is potentially your next god-tier, shrine worthy favourite book ever, which you will definitely stake your entire identity on.

THOSE ARE THE RULES! I DON’T MAKE ‘EM!

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme by That Artsy Reader Girl in which readers come together each week to scream about either their favourite books or their TBRs (that’s basically what this is… don’t try and tell me otherwise!)

This weeks topic is: “Books I Wish I Had Read As a Child”

But if I did that prompt the whole list will just be me crying about not having read Percy Jackson when I was still a YOUTH! IT WAS RIGHT THERE! WhY oH wHY dIdN’t I rEaD tHeM?!?

(and I still haven’t, I’M SORRY!)

ANywayyyyyyyy.

Here is a list of books I took way too long to read (classic me move) BUT I’VE READ THEM NOW!

All book covers are linked to their respective Goodreads pages (and all sequels will take you to the first book to avoid spoilers), clicking on them will take you there so you can check them out too! (don’t be like me… DON’T WAIT CENTURIES TO READ THEM! DO NOT!)

The Raven Cycle is definitely in my top 5 and I recommend it to everyone. I haven’t read any of the others on your list yet–and some of them I haven’t heard of. So I’ll be checking those out now and adding to my mountain of a tbr! Great post!

    1. I swear there’s like 100 new YA books every month, and reasonably we can’t buy 100 books every month so we have to pick and choose. 😭
I’m so glad and grateful that there are so many different books to choose from these days, there will always be something that fits what you’re looking to read! (Mood readers rejoice!!)

    1. Oh my gosh, right?!? I kept getting Illuminae in my recommended on Goodreads and I was all “But I don’t like Sci-Fi?” BOY WAS I WRONG! I LOVE SCI-FI, or to be more specific, I love THAT Sci-Fi! 😂 It’s so good, how could past me just brush by it like that? *shaking head at my past self in shame*
BUT IT’S ALL FINE NOW! We’ve read it, we love it and all is right in the Universe!

    1. Honestly I waited so long to read An Enchantment of Ravens because there were a lot of mixed reviews when it came out. And I was so excited to read it that I was also scared of being disappointing. BUT I WASN’T! Thank Goodness! I absolutely loved it, and I hope you enjoy it when you get round to it! ❤
Ooooo, how far have you gotten into the Illuminae series??? Gemina is my all time favourite, even though Obsidio really got to me. Like Gemina TUGGED at the heartstrings and made me cry but Obsidio…. just ripped them out. I am now without heartstrings.
The books on this list have devoured my soul and leave me in a constant state of sobbing and staring into space, and they are coming for you next. HAPPY READING!! ❤ (I hope you enjoy them when you read them! Without to much of that… soul consuming stuff!!)

    1. They are AMAZING reads!! I really loved More Than We Can Tell but probably only love it slightly more because I was already in love with one of the main characters from the first book (Rev is very precious, must protecc!)
I hope you enjoy them when you read them!! ❤

  2. I still haven’t read An Enchantment of Ravens or Holly Black. Gah! The Black series in particular just because she’s apparently the queen of fae, from what I’ve heard, and I love fae stories. Starry Eyes too just sounds really good, and honestly the camping thing sounds fun even though I’m not a huge fan of camping in real life haha. Sometimes reading about something is better?!?

    Great list! 🙂

    1. I highly recommend both! The Folk of the Air though… *chefs kiss* Wonderful. Stabbtastic. 10/10 would let stab me again. The whole series does just prove that she is the Faerie Queen tbh. I will buy ALL OF HER BOOKS! If I can. 😂
Starry Eyes was so good! I can’t say I’ve ever really been camping but I enjoyed reading about it?? 😂 One thing I like about Jenn Bennett’s books is that it deals with more than one thing at a time. So in Starry Eyes (this isn’t a spoiler I swear it’s in the synopsis?) the MC is dealing with her feelings for A Boy but also has been handed some evidence that her dad’s cheating on her stepmom (whom she loves dearly) and she doesn’t know what to do with it. So we can panic about more than one thing all at the same time!! 😂

      Thank you! Happy Reading! ❤

Fantastic definition of TTT. Your whole post cracked me up, as always! (Also I’m definitely not guilty of having Letters to the Lost on my TBR, eyeballing me like “girl, you know you’re gonna love me, what is the freaking holdup.”)
